  • Panel mounting must survive years of tropical sun, salt and the flexing of a working vessel, without creating deck leaks. Deck penetrations for a solar array are a rot risk on a timber vessel.

  • Access for inspection and replacement, since batteries are consumables even when they are expensive ones.

For a volume dive platform competing on price, the capital is usually better spent on compressor redundancy, air conditioning quality and dive deck layout first.
